Whole Prey Values

Reptiles, particularly carnivorous ones (e.g., snakes, monitors, tegus), benefit from whole-prey diets. Button quail, like Coturnix quail, can be fed whole (feathers, organs, bones) because:

Protein: ~18–22% (high-quality animal protein)

Fat: ~5–10% (depending on age and breeding)

Calcium to Phosphorus Ratio:

          Whole prey with bones and organs intact offers a balanced Ca:P ratio (close to 1.2:1 or 2:1)

Vitamins: Rich in B vitamins (especially B12), Vitamin A (from liver), and Vitamin D3 (in the skin and fat)

Minerals: Good source of iron, zinc, selenium, and magnesium
